Fostering Champions: Empowering Girls Through Basketball Excellence

SSBA Stars Inc was created in 2017 by Johnnie L. Mathis II and became a non-for-profit organization in 2024. Our Girls Basketball Academy is dedicated to providing a transformative experience for young female athletes. Through expert coaching, comprehensive skill development, and a supportive community, we aim to empower girls to excel both on and off the court. Our academy prioritizes holistic development, fostering leadership, confidence, and teamwork skills alongside athletic prowess. With a commitment to inclusivity and excellence, we're poised to shape the next generation of female basketball champions.

Community

SSBA is a family oriented AAU Organization. We Believe the student comes before the athlete. We pride ourselves on encouraging our student athletes to maintain a GPA of 3.0 and above.

Coach Mathis created Shining Stars Basketball Academy to provide the foreground to overcome adversity in a nurturing environment, using their athletic ability to enchance their opportunities to reach their goals, while developing positive relationships on and off the court.

SSBA believes in showing our youth that basketball is more than a sport, it is a tool and outlet for young adults to access their full potential through discipline and to attain greater educational possibilities.

SSBA Creed

This is my ball and there are many like it but this one is mine, my ball without me is nothing, me without my ball I am nothing, I will shoot, move and communicate, I will attack like wolves and eat like sharks, I will play fast and I will play free from all negativity, for this is the way of SSBA.
