BIOGRAPHY
Coach Mathis believes that in life, we look to others for examples to follow. As these relationships are formed, we build lasting friendships that lead to forming a bond that unites each of us as a family unit. Through the sport of basketball, Coach Mathis created Shining Stars Basketball Academy (SSBA) to provide the foreground to overcome adversities in a nurturing environment, using their athletic abilities to develop positive relationships on and off the court. Coach Mathis believes in showing our youth that basketball is more than a sport, it is a tool and outlet for young adults to access their full potential through discipline and to attain greater educational possibilities.
SSBA CREED
This is my ball and there are many like it but this one is mine, my ball without me is nothing, me without my ball I am nothing, I will shoot, move and communicate, I will attack like wolves and eat like sharks, I will play fast and I will play free from all negativity, for this is the way of SSBA.

As a coach, we aims to provide our students with the opportunities for physical, social, emotional, and mental enhancement that will lead them to become a good and productive citizen.
